Social Enterprise Program
The Social Enterprise Program is designed to enhance the capacity of individuals and institutions to contribute to the social and economic development of their communities. Specializations within the program focus on specific fields of endeavor. Two specialization programs have already been developed in this regard:
1) The Environmental Action Program (EAP)
The Environmental Action Program (EAP) aims at empowering and building the capacity of individuals, in particular rural women, as an entry point to working collectively to promote sustainable development in their communities. Under this program, a series of EAP training courses were developed.
EAP Level 1 — Participants develop their capacity to cooperate, deepen their understanding of environment science, learn to identify the positive and negative impacts of different production systems, and develop the skills needed to evaluate the sustainability of their program.
The Facilitator Training Course — designed to train the participants of EAP Level 1 who desire to serve as EAP Level 1 facilitators for their friends and neighbors from the same village.
EAP Level 2 — This level will include a number of courses, each addressing specific technologies or production systems in some depth. Based on expressed needs and available resources, the first draft of the EAP Level 2 course is now being developed and is called, "Improving Agricultural Production".
Leader Training Course — The materials are designed to deepen the leaders' understanding of the program and to develop their capacity to encourage and support local facilitators and participants who are in the process of implementing their plan of action.
2) Enhancing the Learning Environment Program
This program aims to increase the efficiency of teaching through helping educators acquire the skills and attitudes necessary to apply the principles of participation and cooperation in the classroom environment.
