Exchange and Consultancy Programs
During 2003, the Badi Foundation continued to participate in and learn from exchange programs with government agencies and like-minded non-governmental institutions in China in the field of sustainable development, agriculture, education and psychology. The highlights of this interaction included invitations and participation in the following:
A. Invited and participated in conferences
1. The UNESCO International Forum On Education ment
which was a follow-up to World Summit OnSustainable
Development and a prelude to the UN Decade Of Education
For Sustainable Development (2005- 2015) in Nov.
2. The International Policy Workshop On Sustainable Grassland
And Livestock Management In Western China sponsored
by theGansu Provincial Government and the World Bank.
3. The launching of the Educational Assistance Project
For Underdeveloped Areas In China by Tsinghua University,
Beijing.
4. Consultative Meeting organized by the Beijing Municipal
Education Commission in relation to education and service.
B. Psychology Workshops
1. Two-day training on Choice Of Partner & Conflict Resolution
In Marriage for 50 participants in Guangzhou and 35
in Beijing, with very positive feedback from participants.
2. Five-day training for 50 medical professionals, in collaboration
with the Beijing University Health Center. It was highly
successful with positive comments from the Head of the
Department of Medical Psychology.
3. China Central Television, in the all-English channel,
CCTV-9, interviewed Drs Bijan and Agnes Ghaznavi
on the SARS episode. The interview covered the implication
of SARS and the transformation that came about through
this challenge.
C. Consultancy Program
1. UNDP China Country Office Staff Development Consultancy Program.
In June 2003, the Foundation concluded a two-year staff development program with the UNDP.
2. European Union – China Training Program Village Governance, Program Management Office
Designed a training course for office management and staff with an objective to empower individuals and increase the level of cooperation. The follow-up evaluation indicated positively that the training has helped many individuals through a period of change in the organization.
3. China Export & Credit Insurance Cooperation
Conducted the pilot training workshop in team building and on the concept of leadership to raise the
awareness of grassroots leaders from various departments. As a result of the training, many have
begun to work in team and produced positive outcomes.
