Chang Haixia (in EAP Level 1 training class), Mizhi County, Shaanxi Province:
"I did not want to come for this training as my child was only six months old. Only after being persuaded by the village representative, did I finally decide to come. During the first day, I was not interested and felt that what we learned had nothing to do with my life and I missed my child...After the second day, I found the course very useful and was able to participate in the learning process. Previously I dared not think about anything myself, only looked after my family and my child’s welfare. Now I have the confidence and dare to think. When I return to my village, I shall share with my husband and neighbors what I learned and let them learn together with me."
Li Ying, Kongdong District, Gansu Province:
"I am a vegetable farmer. I was reluctant to collect the thin plastic sheets used to cover the vegetables and put them in one place. This has resulted in an accumulation of plastic sheets in the soil affecting the growth of the vegetables. Besides, there were many plastic sheets that fly around the field and the road causing environmental pollution. After the training, I learned to leave them in one place..."

"...the Environmental Action Program had a greaimpact on me especially the four-in-one system. Previously I just let days pass and now I understand... I would like to use the knowledge that I learned to help my family and community in order to have a kind of development which is in harmony with the environment."
