Environmental Action Program (EAP):
The Next Stage of Development

With our small but committed group of local facilitators starting to carry forward the teaching and learning process in their communities, the project is set for the next stage of development. This next stage will concentrate on three areas:

1) Managing Project Expansion
In areas where there are trained local facilitators who are able to facilitate the EAP Level 1 course in small groups, a systematic effort will be made to reach out to others in the surrounding communities. In this way, we will further expand the pool of trained facilitators in neighboring villages within the same township.

2) Improving Collaborating Effectiveness
The main focus is on building the capacity of collaborating institutions to create an encouraging environment and to build mutual trust within the population. A concerted effort will need to be made to improve the effectiveness of our collaboration with local institutions.

3) Offering Courses To Meet Community Needs
After taking the EAP Level 1 and Facilitators Training Courses, the majority of our participants and facilitators have taken positive actions that have affected their families and communities. Other community needs for further training have been identified. To meet these needs, a series of additional courses will be offered. The next stage will begin with EAP level 2 and specific production system courses such as the four-in-one system of biogas generation and animal husbandry. An effort will be made to conduct 'Enhancing the Learning Environment Program' to school teachers in their respective areas.
