China Program Review 2002
Looking Ahead
While we have learned to implement projects in China over the past three years, we aim to consolidate these learning experiences and plan to expand our efforts, especially in rural development, under the banner of the Social Enterprise Program.
1) Environmental Action Program (for Rural Areas)
Developing Human Resources
The focus for the next two years will be to raise up local facilitators who are able to carry out the expansion process on their own. Large group, intensive trainings will be used to increase the number of facilitators while more effort will be expended to support facilitation of small group study as this is a natural way of expanding the reach and impact of the program.
Evaluation and Monitoring Process
A more concerted effort will be made to improve the evaluation and monitoring of the program over the next few years. Experts will be invited to help audit the evaluation process. Attention will be given to adopting a systematic and structured methodology. Regular reflection meetings will be held with facilitators to evaluate and advance the program.
Working with partners and other NGOs
Looking ahead, besides strengthening our relationship with our current partners, we may want to explore cooperation with other NGOs who would like to start a program while choosing to use our delivery system.
Level 2
In 2003, the level 2 course material will be further modified and tested with women who have:
i) completed the level 1 course, ii) taken concrete action to promote sustainability, and iii) wish to focus on improving their agricultural production systems.
2) Environmental Action Program for Educators
Effort will be made to establish collaboration with an institution in Beijing to embark on a long term program to raise human resources necessary to expand this program.
3) Enhancing the Learning Environment Program
Collaboration ties have already been established with the Beijing Women's College for training of Chinese teachers, and with schools in Guizhou for training of English language teachers in 2003. It is expected that the future focus will be working with these collaborators to raise human resources for further expansion.
Future

It is envisioned that a self-sustaining program will be developed in which local individuals and institutions participate in a process of building capacity for the advancement of their communities. The Badi Foundation's role will be to help develop the human resources needed for this process and to support institutions taking on this challenge through appropriate educational materials and methods.
